EPILEPSY:

Epilepsy is very common disorder for millions of men; women are affected by this disorder with unique characteristics. It has the oldest history among all mental disorders that refer to a group of brain disorder. In Epilepsy a person feels recurrent seizures. The figure of people with epilepsy is high in most of the province of the world; therefore constituting epilepsy is a major public health concern. Epilepsy can be developed by brain injury or brain tumor, chemical abnormalities, complications during childbirth, infections such as meningitis, encephalitis, Cysticercosis, or brain Abscess; alcohol or disturbance of the rhythm of electrical discharges. Epilepsy is a chronic epileptic condition in which patient feels recurrent seizures. Seizure develops when abnormal electrical activity in the brain causes an involuntary change in body movement or function, sensation, awareness, or behavior.

Types of Epilepsy: Epilepsy can be classified as focal seizures also known as partial seizures and generalized seizures. The epilepsy is being treated by anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) in about two-thirds of all people with epilepsy. The epileptic patients need special management for treatment. Almost all the patients are treated by one or more medication of anti-epileptic drugs.

Medications are available to treat the symptoms of epilepsy. Medications such as Keppra, Zonegran and Lyrica are effectively used in the treatment of epilepsy and seizures arising from this disorder.
