What is Timolol?

Treating increased pressure in the eye (ocular hypertension) and open-angle glaucoma. Timolol drops are beta-blocker which works to decrease fluid production and pressure inside the eye.

How does Timolol work?

Timolol Maleate eye drops work by decreasing the pressure in the eye by reducing the amount of fluid that fills up in the aqueous humor. By reducing the amount of this fluid, it reduces the pressure within the eyes.

How to use Timolol eye drops?

The recommended dose of Timolol 0.5% ophthalmic solution is one drop twice a day. Tilt your head back. Using your index finger, pull the lower eyelid away from the eye to form a pouch. Drop the medicine into the pouch and gently close your eyes. Immediately use your finger to apply pressure to the inside corner of the eye for a minute. Do not blink the eyes. Remove excess medicine around your eye with a clean, dry tissue, being careful not to touch your eye. Wash your hands properly to remove any medicine that may be left over it.
