Parasitic infestations occur due to attack of protozoa or worms by entering inside the body. These parasites cause infections by being ingested in the form of eggs or larvae. Various protozoa that cause parasitic infestations are amebiasis, hookworm, malaria, pinworm, threadworm, whipworm, giardiasia and tapeworm infestations.

Once these parasites enter the body they start multiplying rapidly and spread to main organs of the body, thus causing serious effects on body. To treat these infestations, Anthelmintic drugs are recommended by doctors. Anthelmintics belong to the group of anti-parasitic drugs that eject parasitic worms and other internal parasites from the body by either makes them unconscious or kills them without causing any damage to the host. Anthelmintic drugs may either be vermifuges or vermicides. These drugs show its action either by annihilating the worms, by paralyzing them, or by changing the permeability of their plasma membranes. The dead worms then come out in the feces.

Various Anthelmintics available in the market are Albendazole, Permethrin Cream, Ivermectin and Mebendazole. All these medications are very effective and potent in expelling out the dead worms from the body.
